Kestrel

The following original Pantomime Scripts available for performance:

  • Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves
    • The well known story of skulduggery by Ali Baba and his band of Forty (or in our case fourteen) Thieves in the cave and how the beautiful slave girl, Morgiana, performs the dance of  revelation (of the villain). Please note that the more blood thirsty aspects of the original story have been toned down to make it a production fit for all ages.
  • Hiawatha
    • How Hiawatha's bravery in the face of adversity wins the hand of the daughter of the neighbouring tribe's Chieftain, with more than a little bit of help form a couple of beavers.
  • Dick Whittington
    • The traditional story of a cat and his master, lured to the bright city lights for fame and fortune. Not to be forgotten is their  ship being wrecked on a South Sea Island and the beautiful grass skirted maidens to be met there.
  • The Viking and I
    • Doing for the Norse invaders what Yul Brynner did for the Siamese. Anna and the tap dancing reindeer shed new light on the lives and loves of these fearless warriors. Somehow the three bears got in on the act, as did the Ugly Duckling.
  • The Sleeping Beauty
    • The Prince has more than a bit of hedge trimming to do to win the hand of the somnolent Princess Arora. That there happened to be three other princes, accompanied by the pages - Front Page, Back Page and Blank Page, intent on reaching Arora first, adds to the tension, but thanks to the rather scatty, gardening mad, Fairy Lilac a satisfactory outcome is finally reached - or is it? The next production revealed that all might not have been as it seemd...
  • 2000.1 A Space Oddity
    • Remember the Millennium Bug? One such faulty computer chip turns the holographic image of Luke Sky Talker's girlfriend into something more like Mrs T. In search of a remedy, his time travel adds a previously unknown twist to the tale of The Sleeping Beauty.
  • McSplash!
    • A highland fling when Nessy meets the Mermaid and the local laird re-thinks his wedding plans. A fishy tail to the end.

All scripts were co-written by Bill and Alison Colombi and first performed by The Nunthorpe Players. The authors are grateful for the patience of The Players in allowing themselves to be used as guinea pigs for the each new creative outpouring.

All scripts (traditional stories or original) contain the traditional pantomime elements such as Principal boy and girl, the Dame, the Villain and his/her henchmen, and usually an animal or two. Good triumphs over evil, pardon is sought and is magnanimously granted.

As far as possible the Chorus/Dancers are integral to the story line and all characters get a reasonable spread of on-stage appearances throughout the show. Topicality and localisation are always key elements to success, and help with adaptation is available.

To received a fuller synopsis (including number of characters, etc) of any particular script please email me at panto@billcolombi.co.uk, stating which script(s) you are interested in.

Note: All scripts are copyright and a licence fee is payable for each performance.  Legal redress will be sought for any infringement.
